Client: Mr. M. Hwa, City of Shenzhen

Indoor athletic facilities include a gymnasium, a basketball courts, a natatorium, an archery range, a bowling alley, badminton courts, a fitness center, and a spa. Outdoor athletic facilities include a soccer field and 5,000-seat stadium. A basement under the entire site includes a 6000 sqm subterranean shopping arcade with restaurants and a nightclub, as well as parking for 800 cars and 2,000 bicycles.
A 28 story hotel anchors the center of the site, while a rooftop park covers almost the entire project.
Location: 198 Huafa S rd, Futian District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China
Construction: steel and concrete composite frame.
Concept: Futian, a working class community in Shenzhen, has no public spaces. Our project connects a major boulevard with a residential neighborhood and transforms the roofs of the venues into one large, neighborhood connecting park. The program is organized along a internal promenade, which has become a popular place to stroll and to meet friends. The people of Futian relax on the rooftop park, watching local teams play soccer, or participate in basketball games, swimming competitions, or visit the event spaces hovering like a flying saucer above the promenade. The hotel tower is designed to be a giant billboard, identifying the neighborhood of Futian against the skyline.
